Strategic Advisory

For founders and executives who know their constraint is real, but have not been able to fully locate it through usual coaching or consulting.

Scope of engagement

Approach
Brain and mind science applied to cognitive, behavioural, and commercial constraints

format
Direct sessions, structured around the constraint, not a fixed agenda

outcome
Diagnosis and resolution, not ongoing dependency

PhD Medicine · 30 years applied practice

THE WORK

Most business problems are misdiagnosed.

Not because the people working on them lack intelligence. Because the standard diagnostic framework organises problems by category: strategy, mindset, communication, marketing, leadership. It then applies specialist advice within each category.

This approach has a specific flaw.

The brain, which produces all human behaviour including all business behaviour, is not organised by category. Cognitive patterns, emotional responses, identity conflicts, decision-making habits, and communication failures are not separate systems. They interact. A constraint in one produces effects across all of them.

Addressing each category in isolation produces partial results. The rest of the problem remains, because the rest of the problem was never examined.

This is why capable, intelligent people engage multiple advisors across multiple disciplines and still find that something fundamental stays stuck.

advisory enquiry

Apply for Advisory

A short conversation to establish whether there is a fit and what the right structure looks like.

The enquiry asks three things: what you are working on, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping to shift. That is sufficient.

The Diagnostic Problem

The actual constraint is almost never located where the problem presents.

Three Examples

A founder who cannot close decisions despite having adequate information and genuine strategic clarity.

The more likely explanation is a conflict between the strategic direction and an implicit identity architecture: a set of prior assumptions about who they are and what they should want. This is not an analysis problem. The analytical capacity is intact.

An executive whose communication consistently produces friction despite good intentions and genuine care for their people.

The more likely explanation is a threat-detection system operating at elevated sensitivity, producing behavioural signals that precede and override the content of the communication. This is not a communication problem. The message is clear. The receiver is not receiving the message.

A sales system converting below its evident potential despite good targeting and a strong offer.

The more likely explanation is a sequence that violates the order in which the brain moves from resistance to decision, creating friction at the exact point where the reader should be crossing the threshold. This is not a messaging problem. The communication is reaching the right people. The architecture is working against itself.

In each case, the presenting problem is real. The diagnostic conclusion it suggests is wrong.

the work

Working at the level
where the constraint actually lives.

The advisory work begins one level beneath the categorical presentation, where cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and commercial systems interact and produce the outcome the operator is trying to change.

The diagnostic question is always the same: what is actually maintaining this? The answer might be cognitive. It might be emotional. It might be a structural conflict between identity and direction. It might be a commercial system built without reference to how people actually make decisions. Usually it is more than one of these, operating together.

A session moves between levels as the diagnosis requires. That is not a lack of focus. It is an accurate response to the fact that the problem is not contained to one level.

The work is direct. It does not skirt around the actual issue. It is grounded in neuroscience, behavioural science, and thirty years of applied practice across clinical, academic, and commercial contexts. It does not feel like coaching, therapy, or consulting, because it is not any of those individually.

The commercial application

How decisions
are actually made.

Buying behaviour is not random. It follows a predictable neural sequence. The brain moves from resistance to decision through specific stages, in a specific order.

Most sales systems, landing pages, and advertising are designed around what the seller wants to communicate, not around that sequence. The result is friction at the point of decision, for reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the offer or the accuracy of the targeting.

This advisory applies a working understanding of that architecture directly to commercial systems: how messages are sequenced, how value is established before cost is encountered, how objections are resolved before they surface as resistance. This is not persuasion in the conventional sense. It is communication designed around the mechanics of how decisions are actually made.

fit

Who this
advisory is for.

  • Operators who have used coaching, consulting, or strategic advisory and found it useful within its scope, but insufficient for the problem beneath the problem.
  • Operators who are willing to examine the full range of what might be maintaining their current constraints, including the cognitive and emotional material that does not belong neatly to a business category.
  • Operators who want diagnosis rather than encouragement, and movement rather than insight as an endpoint.
  • Operators who carry real responsibility, real decisions, real stakes, real consequences, and who know that the quality of their thinking and execution directly determines the outcome.

This is not the right fit for operators seeking motivational support, accountability structures, or tactical execution guidance above the level of the actual constraint.

next step

Engagements are structured
around resolution

The goal of this advisory is a more capable, clearer-thinking, better-executing operator.  If what is described here matches the nature of your current constraints, the next step is a direct conversation.
